I look for stories that examine the liminal spaces between society, culture, art, and food— the border stories that challenge and change our realities.
Services
Developmental Editing For Authors
I offer developmental manuscript and proposal editing for authors looking to advance in the trade publishing industry. My storytelling acumen and professional experience in the publishing industry enables me to provide personalized edits that will help writers reach agents, editors, and captivate reading audiences. I work across genres, but I find myself most interested in voice-driven literary fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, and thorough, purposeful cultural histories and historical nonfiction. If you're interested in my services, please don't hesitiate to reach out.
Editing and Evaluation for Presses
I provide professional level submission evaluation and manuscript editing for publishers looking to maintain a curated list. My three years editorial experience with the Bloomsbury US Adult Trade team have given me the skills to be a dependable, focused, and flexible asset to any publisher. When working with a press, my first prioirity is to understand the publisher's objective in acquiring and publishing titles, and I look to imbue that mission into all the work that I do for them.
Recipe Testing for Cookbooks
My first food memories are of my mother, returning from work late into the evening to cook a multi-course South Indian dinner from scratch for our family every night. Her respect for ingredients and flair for balancing tradition and creativity helped me understand the power of food as a form of communication and togetherness. As a home cook today, I've developed a deep passion for studying global food history and infusing it into the recipes I cook on a daily basis. I combine editorial prowess with my Non-Western cooking sensibilities to provide recipe testing and writing services to cookbook publishers and authors.
About Me
I’m a former Assistant Editor at Bloomsbury Publishing who holds a MA in English Literature from George Washington University, but above all, I am a student of storytelling. As a child of immigrants, I was born with access to stories across languages, styles, and mediums. I’ve spent my personal and professional life examining the transformative power of storytelling and as an editor, I hope to use my skills to usher in more stories that push us to understand our past, contend with our present, and reimagine our futures. Outside of editing, I’m an avid cook, backpacker, and fan of South Asian music and film.
